Unity

Something that I have learned, respect and appreciate is how the people in this country unite and help each other when needed and in times of crisis. People take immediate action, no questions asked.

People get together and truly give their time to help meaningful causes effectively. Volunteer work is a very popular activity and a strong social component of this country.

You are so right! I remember when I was gowing up and watching American T.V. or American movies, you would see people coming together for a common goal; whether being in a Church group, to selling Girl Scout cookies. It was always something I asked myself why we did not have it in our country, or was it happening and we did not know it? The point of the matter is that many Americans have given their time in many ways to assist others and its just great!
Many can have excuses on not giving a helping hand, but the truth is that you do not have to belong to a non-profit to help. If you really want to, you can do something for anyone at anytime.
    Remember “Pay it forward” ?
In this case people were expecting something in return, and it worked, but if we are truly humble, all we need is the reward of seeing someone’s smile, or well being.

Keep helping, you might not know it but you may be saving a life, even with a smile.

What a great point you make. Shortly after we moved to NC we experienced severe storms and some of my fondest memories are of the people I met during that time and the compassion they showed others. Many friendships were made among people that might not have developed otherwise. Further education is the reason to go to RU but it’s nice to know you’ll be around other caring people and your contributions will have value.
